E-Commerce

E-commerce is a dynamic field of material handling that involves challenges like flexibility, data solutions and order tracking. Conveyor Solutions, a Systems in Motion company, applies technology such as Pick-to-Light Systems which sort the product to order location and confirms order accuracy by scan. These Pick-to-Light systems are fast and flexible and provides additional tracking data, making them ideal for e-commerce, small orders, and direct-to-consumer distribution. Conveyor Solutions also uses products like Lightning Pick (LP) that features pack-out lights, multiple batches per put station and carton assignment mode.

Case Study: Monat Global—Doral, Florida

This health company offers a variety of cosmetic and wellness products, focusing mostly on skincare and haircare. During the pandemic, the growth of online orders became a challenge for the company’s labor-intensive material handling process, which involved building boxes, sorting items into kits, and packing orders. Systems in Motion and Alpine Supplychain provided solutions to help them resolve their e-commerce issues with a new headquarters in Doral,  Florida. The new facility had to accommodate bulk receiving and international shipping, complex packing needs and e-commerce fulfillment.

These goals were achieved by installing SOPs and ProTrack and installing SAP/EWM for real time inventory management for processing and storage locations. Additionally, we installed racks to increase space utilization for reserve storage. We also installed 5 spiral conveyors, a dangerous goods room, and a trash conveyor; 30 pick-to-light stations were also installed for e-commerce fulfillment. These changes allowed our client to maximize the throughput rate from picking processes and maximize their inventory.
